Mindfulness

mindfulness
Most of us can identify with the feeling of being caught up in our thought processes.  We can find ourselves sitting in a meeting or lecture theatre, at home, or spending time with friends, and rather than focus on what we are doing and what is being said to us, our mind is elsewhere.  We may be worrying about the things we have to do, feeling pressure or wishing things to be different from how they are right now.

Mindfulness is the practice of becoming more aware of the present moment.  Becoming more aware of our thought processes.  This may not sound particularly helpful, until you discover, that through practice, you are no longer caught up in thinking about things that have already happened (the past) or worrying about things that have not yet happened (the future).  This freedom from the automatic chatter inside our heads can have surprising results.

The Living Well series will teach you practical skills that can help with day-to-day life, improve relationships and well-being as well as working with psychological and health challenges.
