Generalised anxiety can feel like worry moving from one concern to the next, with tension, restlessness and difficulty switching off. This test uses the GAD-7, a validated screening questionnaire, to help you understand your recent anxiety symptoms.
You will get your 0–21 GAD-7 score, its symptom range and guidance on what the result means. The separate question about everyday difficulty gives useful context without changing the score. You can also use the broader anxiety self-check to explore worry, sensations and coping patterns.
A clearer picture, one question at a time
Generalised anxiety screening with the GAD-7
Over the last 2 weeks, how often have you been bothered by the following problems? Answer the seven GAD-7 items, followed by a separate question about difficulty in everyday life.
This self-check is for adults. The questionnaire itself does not send or save your answers. They are cleared when you reload or leave this page.

How to understand this self-check
The GAD-7 asks about anxiety symptoms over the last two weeks. Its seven items are scored 0–3 for a total of 0–21. Published symptom ranges are 0–4 minimal, 5–9 mild, 10–14 moderate and 15–21 severe. The difficulty question is not included in that total. A diagnosis requires a fuller assessment.
GAD-7 developed by Drs. Robert L. Spitzer, Janet B.W. Williams, Kurt Kroenke and colleagues, with an educational grant from Pfizer Inc. No permission required to reproduce, translate, display or distribute. Original validation study and original questionnaire.
